ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN NURSING (ADN)


 OBJECTIVE 

The Nursing (AS) program provides an avenue for current PN’s and other individuals considering a career change to pursue a program of study in professional nursing that allows them to continue their education and obtain an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing. Upon successful completion of the program requirements, students will be eligible to take the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Candidates who are successful in passing the NCLEX-RN licensure examination will be eligible to be licensed with the Florida State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Registered nurse licensure is entry level into practice as a professional nurse.



  DESCRIPTION 

Nursing program provides a course of study for current PN’s and other qualified individuals to pursue a formal course of study in professional nursing. The program is designed to offer courses in sequential progression that leads to the development of knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to function in a professional nurse role in diverse healthcare settings. During the course of the program students will gain knowledge in general education courses (solely offered online) and the core competency courses in nursing concepts are offered onsite. The objectives of the program will be achieved through didactic studies, laboratory exercises, and clinical experiences in diverse health care settings. Upon successful completion of the Nursing program, students will be awarded an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing as long as student account is in good standing. The Nursing program can be completed in 12 months for students who completed all the general education prerequisite courses upon enrollment; and 18 months or longer for students who did not complete all the general education prerequisites courses prior to enrollment. The Nursing program is full-time intense program and requires total dedication from the student in order to be successful.
